Reflection 11/30/21

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature class we read a short story. When I saw the story I expressed that it isn't a short story. He explained that something that you're able to read in one sitting is a short story. The story was The Rockpile by James Baldwin. Throughout the story we stopped and discussed what is going on. In the story the rock-pile is somewhere where "sinners" would hang. Roy wants to play there whereas John is scared of that place. Their mother doesn't want them playing there. Eventually Roy goes and hurts himself where the father would come home and blames the oldest and the mom. It's a good story, and I've seen this scenario in real life before.

Reflection 11/29/21

Today in Mr.Rease’s American Literature class we read a passage. It was a frame passage, I think that’s what is was called. In the passage a man was asked by his young daughter if he killed anyone, to which he respond “of course not”, but he lied. He told the actual story to the reader, how he killed a man for simply walking by, as he was trained to do. It triggered internal conflict to which he regrets killing the man and he wants to tell his daughter the truth. It was pretty good, and we had a series of questions to answer that wasn’t hard.

Reflection 11/9/21

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature we worked on the same prompt from yesterday. We worked on a body paragraph from one of our claims. With my claim I found two pieces of evidence. Which each piece of evidence I explained it. Once I had my claim, my evidence, and explanation I concluded my body paragraph. It was pretty simple, after breaking it down. I understood the assignment well, I believe.

Reflection 11/8/21

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature class, we looked at sources. There was a prompt with a side to choose with 6 sources. With the side we chose, we put if each source supported out claim. I skimmed the sources and underlined the important parts. I made three claims just from reading the prompt.

Reflection 11/1/22

Today in Mr.Rease’s American Literature class we took a quiz on chapter 7. I’m pretty confident in my answers, there was only three constructive response questions. We then read half of chapter eight. In chapter eight Cheryl contemplates hiking the next part. She eventually starts hiking the next part, I’m not sure what happens next. We have homework for the rest of chapter 8 and read chapter 9.
