Reflection 2/28/22

Today Mr.Rease wasn’t here because he was out of town. He visited New Orleans for Mardi Gras. I was in New Orleans for my birthday this weekend, I had so much fun with my family and friends. It was weird seeing sooo much changed in such little time. I love it down there but I could never live there.

Reflection 2/16/22

Today in Mr.Rease’s American Literature class we continued the play, Fences. Today I got to read as Troy. It felt kind of funny playing him. I put on my man voice and was always cursing at someone. In th next part of the play, Troy tells Rose that he has gotten another woman pregnant. Rose was very upset and they got into a heated argument. 6 months later we find out Alberta has the baby and she dies after birth. It was a crazy scene. I enjoy reading this play so much.

Reflection 2/15/22

Today in Mr.Rease’s American literature class we read Fences again. We were introduced to Gabriel and Cory. Gabriel is Troy’s brother who is mentally ill. He had a metal plate put into his head in the Military. He always says he chasing the “Hellhounds”. Cory plays football and doesn’t want to work at the A&P like his dad says. I like the play so far

Reflection 2/14/22

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature we read the play Fences. In ACT 1 Scene 1 we were introduces to Troy, Bono, Rose, and Lyons. Troy and Bono were discussing about their job. When they were done they were talking about a lady Troy has been seeing at Taylor’s. When he got home he went in a rant about how he had battled with death.

Reflection 2/11/22

Today in Mr.Rease’s American Literature class we had benchmark. We had to write a rhetorical analysis. We had 20 minutes to plan and 40 minutes to write the essay. The prompt was on an speech Barack Obama gave while honoring a Rosa Parks statue. I think I did pretty good with what I had. I need to work on time management.

Reflection 2/10/22

Today in Mr.Rease’s American Literature class we made a commercial. In the commercial we compare two competing restaurants, Popeyes and Chick-fil-A. We had to make the commercial using rhetorical strategies. We planned the commercial then acted it out. I think we did a pretty good job executing all the points, I ran out of breath because we did a lot, lol.

Reflection 2/9/22

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature class we went over audience's appeal. On a bell ringer we were asked if the audience is always specific. I said yes, it is. When someone is writing something, or creating something it's always with intentions of who the audience is. We watched a couple of videos of PC vs Mac. In each video we analyzed what they are trying to communicate to the audience. We looked at American commercials and UK versions. These two different places reaches for two different things. The lesson was pretty simple and quiet. I wish I had more money to try out newer and expensive PC's and monitors.

Reflection 2/8/21

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature class we went over scores of the AP Exam. We looked at two different papers. The first essay was poor writing and the minimum. It was just one long paragraph that was wrong. We all graded the paper a 2 which was the correct score for that paper. Then we went over an actual essay, this one was significantly better. We graded the next one a 6 because it met the criteria of a 6. The six is a score you need at the least to pass. I hope I pass the AP Exam.

Reflection 2/7/2022

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature class we went over Steps to Write a Good Rhetorical Analysis. We went over a College Board Prompt to get prepared for the real thing. It was eulogy by Margaret Thatcher on Ronald Reagan. The steps are to read and analyze, identify rhetorical situations, read the passage, and plan the essay. It looked like Mr.Rease was about to put on a video so I put my head down, I was really tired. I have to go to work at 5 and don't know when I was going to take a nap. I believe I over-napped, I'm not sure what happened in those minutes I missed. I always regret falling asleep in class because I always miss something. But hey, all of my teachers posted today and I have all A's with three AP classes, so I'm pretty happy about that. I think i'm going to start drinking energy drinks.

Reflection 2/4/22

Today in Mr.Rease’s American Literature class, we went over a poem by Kobe Bryant. We also watched the animation that went to it. We analyzed it and answered questions.

Reflection 2/3/22

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature we analyzed a Maya Angelou poem. The Black Family Pledge goes over how African Americans does not pass down their knowledge. Because our traditions aren't passed down we are uneducated and at the bottom of the "food chain". I've read some of Maya Angelou's poems and they are amazing. I'm glad Mr.Rease didn't just start making us read black poets, and we have been all school year.

Reflection 2/2/22

Today in Mr.Rease's American Literature class we talked about black history month. The bell ringer asked how do we feel about Black History Month and Black Future Month. The class got into a heated debate about the Black Lives Matter movement, and strayed off the main topic. I got my last words in to put us back on the main thing, that Black History Month is to not alienate other nationalities and races, but to give recognition to African Americans.

Reflection 2/1/22

Today we weren't in Mr.Rease's class. He wasn't here today, so we went to another literature class downstairs. It was some commotion because a kid had a seizure. We finally got to the class, and I wasn't a fan of the teacher. None of us liked how sarcastic she was, she does not know how to talk to people. I guess she talked to us because she teaches seniors and think we're really below them. I got with my peers and we played card games, it was pretty chill.
